Trans woman Danica Roem Defeats Bob (Bathroom bill) Marshall in VA House of Delegates Race.
Danica Roem(D) defeated incumbent Bob Marshall(R) tonight becoming the first transgender person elected to represent Virginia in the state legislature.
Roem ran a steady campaign focusing on issues that affect the quality of life of her constituents. While Roem openly embraces her trans status she didn’t make it a focal point of her campaign.
“As a journalist, Danica Roem has covered the issues critical to Virginians and listened to a wide range of perspectives,” said Virginia House Democratic Caucus Leader David J. Toscano and Caucus Chair Charnielle Herring in a released statement. “During her campaign, Danica expanded this approach by listening to area residents’ concerns and making them integral to her own policy platform.
